Thank You + An Update

Dear Friends:

First, I want to begin by thanking you again for helping me raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Raising that money was the most amazing experience. Your generosity brought me to tears nearly everyday… and some of you are complete strangers. I hope someone is able to make you all feel as grateful and amazed as you all made me feel.

Secondly, the run is THIS Sunday. This brings me both excitement and frustration.

For those of you that don’t know… unfortunately, I broke my wrist in three places while snowboarding.

After meeting with a couple of orthopedic surgeons, we determined that I needed surgery.

you say plate... I say bottle opener

I now have a lovely gigantic plate permanently in my wrist.

Truly, as I was being carted down the mountain by the ski patrol I started bawling thinking about this race and knowing that I couldn’t honor my commitment to all of you to run it. However, because we went with the most invasive surgery, I am no longer in a cast, and only have to wear a removable brace. Therefore, I am going to walk the 13.1 miles. Mind you, this in itself will be a ridiculous feat seeing that I’ve been somewhat of a worthless blob this past month.

((This also works out because Ashley – who I’m running with – is/was Christina Aguilera’s assistant… she hasn’t had a chance to train either… so walking will be hell for both of us, yippee…))
But wait, there’s more… because I did tell all of you that I would run this, and because I did actually begin training… once I heal and can get my arm sweaty again (or once my arm is working… in case I fall running and need it… let’s be honest, with me this is a huge possibility) I am going to begin to train for the San Diego Rock & Roll half marathon.

So, to summarize: 1) THANK YOU again for your support and for helping me raise money for this terrible disease, 2) I have to walk the Tinkerbell half THIS Sunday because I’m a klutz and destroyed my wrist, but 3) To honor my commitment to you all, I am going to run the SD half on June 3, 2012.

Hey… at least it’s not cancer.

I feel obligated to tell you that my life has flipped upside down and in 20 directions… but I’m still standing. I’ve lost (another) friend, my relationship is best described as “complicated,” but I made it through my first year of law school only fairly scaved…

I laugh a lot. But I laugh uncomfortably… it’s my go to noise. It takes a lot to make me LAUGH. And man, when I laugh, it is LOUD. But I feel the sound from my toes, all the way through my hair. The same thing happens with music. Rarely do I hear songs that make me forget to breathe. You know, a song that brings me to a specific place in time, that tells the world so much about my life… This, this is one of those songs which I feel violated by… It would have been nice to have been given a warning that they were about to put my whole life on blast… Just sayin’

I hung out with my old boss/ soul mate/ complete opposite/ baby momma (of my “God” daughter… “” bcs we’re not catholic) for a craft your ass off day. It was great, as are times always with her. I also proceeded to suffocate my Nugget. I couldn’t stop holding her and kissing her. For the first time in my life I thought, “OMG, I want a baby.” not in the I’m going to get knocked up kind of way but in the someday I’m going to get married and then I want to have a baby (in that order… I know, so lame and old fashioned). It’s not like I ever didn’t want kids. But this was the first time where I really saw myself having a baby.
Weird.
I’m totes getting old.

In my defense. This kid would make anyone want one.

Quest to Veg

Sooo, I’m trying to go Vegan. Not because I love animals (sorry PETA) but because meat keeps making me feel like CRAP. I’m tired of getting food posioning or biting into tendons, etc. I’m just done. I’m a lac-tard anyways, so I figure, wtf… let’s try this vegan thing out.

Note: this also may have something to do with me going crazy in law school and wanting to control something else. I had an extremely personal traumatic experience my freshman year in college and became a vegetarian for a year after that… so yea, I can admit that I may be doing it to focus my energy elsewhere haha

I got a food processor because I really wanted to try out this recipe. I didn’t do the whole sushi roll thingie but was hoping it would be good for dipping veggies in.

Nope.

It. Is. BORING. Honestly, just tastes like pureed almonds. Oh, because it is you say… well, you are right.

Well, I also bough vegan deli meat and made myself a little wrap for tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes…

Finals are right around the corner… this year has been crazy. Hopefully I’ll find some more time to write here… don’t be surprised if I throw up random pics so you know the library hasn’t eaten me… hopefully I taste like the boring almond paste and it’ll at least spit me back out.
